Akunte Bushman Africa
/A!kunta Project
/A!kunta Project Websites Overview
NB: We’re thinking of the four sites as a “family” where there is a clear family resemblance across the sites but each has a distinct “personality” (on each of which more detail below).
1) General Issues – i.e., things that pertain to the entire “family” of websites
a) Overall Look and Feel: First Peoples
… as opposed to “Wildlife,” “Insurance industry,” “Video game portal,” etc.). This may not mean the same thing across the four sites and will need to be adapted in each case.
b) Common design elements:
i) Standard layout: same dimensions, standard placement of main navigation menus, etc.
ii) Standard size / shape of banner: this will be a major visual “anchor” across the four sites, including:
(1) The “family” of logos / links (small) – same layout / location
(2) Contact – standard link to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it address
iii) Standard colours: Of course, the four sites will all be based around the four brand colours (Pantone #s available), with one colour serving as the main background colour per site (as below). Each site will also feature a texture relevant to the project as standard complement to that sites colour (also as below).
iv) Background watermarks: We’d like possibly to include watermarked rock art images on each site (probably a unique set for each site). Not firmly wedded to this if there’s some reason to avoid it.
2) /A!kunta Project
www.akuntaproject.org
a) Purpose: The /A!kunta Project website provides an introduction to the overall /A!kunta Project; it is the “main” project website.
b) Personality: People
The main site should focus on highlighting the people involved in the project – the “human face” of the project, starting with the /A!kunta logo and significantly emphasizing the faces of the crafters – but not exclusively faces: also hands, group shots, etc.
